Ready to govern?

So, Erin O’Toole has announced his shadow cabinet; these are the people who “lead” the Conservatives in the House of Commons on key issues as they prepare for the next election. Just as I was pleased to see veterans like Candice Bergen and sterling newcomers like Alex Ruff in leadership roles, so am I pleased to see veterans Michelle Rempel-Garner and Pierre Poillieve and newcomer Raquel Dancho in important critic roles:

It’s a good team … are they ready to govern? In a pinch, yes, right now, but they need some help from Canadians. Conservative riding associations have to nominate good candidates and Canadian voters have to get past Liberal propaganda and elect good Conservative MPs in the next election …

… so that the party has strength from coast-to-coast-coast and a solid majority in Parliament. It will take years, likely more than a decade to undo the damage Justin Trudeau has done in just five years. But Canadians need that … soon.
