So, Justin Trudeau and Jagmeet Singh agreed that Parliament is optional.
That’s YOUR Parliament that they decided that YOU don’t need.
According to the Globe and Mail, (link above) “The Liberal government’s plan to extend the suspension of regular parliamentary sittings until September because of COVID-19 went ahead Tuesday with the support of the NDP.” I’m reminded of the line Robert Bolt gave to Sir Thomas More in ‘A Man For All Seasons.’ Richard Rich has just perjured himself and Thomas Cromwell confirms that he, Rich, has been given a minor office and More replies: “It profits a man nothing to give his soul for the whole world … but for Wales?” Did Jagmeet Singh deny democracy for ten days of paid sick leave? Is that all it took to buy his vote?
Democracy has taken a serious hit in Canada … perhaps its best we get used to China’s “basic dictatorship.” It appears to be our new form of government.
Jagmeet Singh has managed to take a political party that was on the verge of potentially forming a Government and made it basically irrelevant.
