Just in case no one noticed …

… my modest and coincidental little contribution to International Women’s Day was to comment, for three days running, on interesting, thought-provoking articles by three über-smart women …

… who have good ideas about important issues facing Canada and the world.

I’ve been alive for a long time. Some will say that I haven;y learned much, but in 75+ years spent on five continents and dozens of islands all over the globe ~ yes, boys, it is round ~ I know, for certain, that people are all equal. They are equally smart and stupid, equally honest and venal, equally brave and timid, equally generous and miserly, equally … well, you get it, I hope.

And that being equal bit applies to race, creed and gender.

I am privileged to know and to have worked with women who rose to the top in business and science, who flew helicopters in combat in Afghanistan and some, also, who stayed home to raise their families while their husbands served at sea.

I have commented, before, often in a partisan manner, about feminism. But, generally, I don’t make a big fuss about feminism or International Women’s Day, because I know, with 100% certainty, that every woman is the equal of every man in every way that matters. That’s why my contribution is coincidental. I didn’t, I don’t go looking for interesting things written by women. I just look for interesting things. I’m not surprised when they are written by women and, normally, I wouldn’t care, but someone mentioned the coincidence to me and I mentioned that there was a third, in draft, which is just above.
