Christmas Eve

It’s Christmas eve and this picture, painted by noted Canadian artist Silvia Pecota during the Afghanistan War ~ she went to the combat zone as part of the war artist programme, should remind us all that there are men and women at sea, in bunkers, overseas, and waiting in flight-line ready-rooms, prepared to defend us:

When you are making merry with friends and family over the next three days, please spare a thought for them.

  1. God Bless them I remember other times and other places and the loneliness also being stunned at the feast that the station cooks put on, a salmon the size of a submarine it filled one of the fold out tables. Happy Holidays as well as Happy Hogmanay.
