Out on a limb (2)

Screen Shot 2019-11-15 at 14.36.02A few days ago I went out on a limb and guessed that the incredibly sad and stupid act of vandalizing a cenotaph in Toronto “may have been someone’s idea of a response to the decision to fire Don Cherry.” Now I see a report from 680 News in Toronto which says that “A man who shares the same name as the suspect arrested for spray painting the Old City Hall Cenotaph wrote a lengthy Facebook manifesto citing the emergence of ‘cancel culture’ and the firing of Don Cherry as the motives behind the vandalism.” But, “CityNews has not been able to independently verify that it’s the same person.” The “statement” is here and here. It’s less than coherent. I was very sad to see that the “like” 👍 and even “love” ❤️️ symbols outnumbered the “hate/angry” 😡reactions. There is something fundamentally wrong with Canada when anyone supports vandalizing a cenotaph.
