A couple of weeks ago I gave Prime Minister Trudeau a BZ (military slang (based on a Navy flag signal) for “well done”) for sending Canadians warships into the South China Seas for joint exercises with the Japanese navy.
Here are two pictures of HMCS Regina (an elderly, but still lethal Canadian Navy frigate) (foreground, first picture) and the MV Asterix, Canada’s new leased, civilian-crewed (with military specialists aboard) supply ship conducting combined exercises with Japanese warships (including one of the new Izumo class multi-purpose destroyers (which look like small aircraft carriers) (foreground, second picture) …
… conducting combined training in the South China Seas.
This is good foreign and defence policy (doing the right thing) and it is being done well, in international, but disputed, by China, waters without being overly aggressive or provocative (doing things right).
BZ to the Regina, Asterix and the Royal Canadian Navy.
Regina has passed through Taiwan Straight and is getting news coverage there.
