I mentioned, just a few hours ago, that Canada needs to work at “Improving commercial, diplomatic and political relations with” many countries, including the Philippines which, today, is the second largest source (after India but ahead of China) of new Canadians.* Today is Philippines Independence Day and I wish all Filipinos, especially those who have immigrated or are in the process of immigrating to Canada a happy independence day:

  1. A great people who are “Value added” We have several young female cadets in our Navy League Corp who have Filipino background and they are a credit to themselves and their parents. In my experience they are the most welcoming group of immigrants to anyone who joins their circle and man can they do picnics. A Filipino picnic is like the Mongol army on the move and very yummy!!!
