Calling it what it is

Yesterday there was yet another terrorist attack in yet another major Western City, this time in Melbourne’s central business district. As these things go it was relatively low intensity … only one person was stabbed to death, but consider Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s, comments; he, very correctly, blamed the attack on religious extremism. “He said Australia was under threat by a “radical and dangerous ideology of extremist Islam” … [and he added] … “I am the first to protect religious freedom in this country, but that also means I must be the first to call out religious extremism.”

He said that“Religious extremism takes many forms around the world, and no religion is immune from it … But here in Australia, we would be kidding ourselves if we did not call out the fact that the greatest threat of religious extremism … is the radical and dangerous ideology of extremist Islam.”

Can any Canadian imagine prime Minister Trudeau being so forthright and honest about a terror attack in Canada?

I know I cannot.
