Will he or won’t he?

Andrew MacDougall, writing in the Ottawa Citizen, lays out a good political case for Prime Minister Trudeau to remove our disgraceful supply management system. The optics might be terrible ~ giving n to Donald Trump, etc ~ but Mr MacDougall argues that reducing the price of milk and eggs for tens of millions of Canadians is a politically ‘good thing,’ and allows him, the PM, to counter the attacks on his stupid carbon tax scheme.

Norman Spector, on social media, asks if (mainly) Quebec dairy farers are really more important than all those auto-plant jobs in Ontario …

… I’m not sure of the numbers, I understand the dairy farming industry is huge, but I suspect the auto sector is larger and employs more people.

If Prime Minister Trudeau gave up the supply management system he would almost certainly, want to introduce subsides that are pretty much equal to those that the US government provides to its dairy farmers ~ and they are large.

It will be an interesting couple of weeks.
