One does not have to agree with everything that former US President Barack Obama says in the excerpts from this little speech, which he delivered in South Africa just the other day, and I do not share all his views, but boy he is a sterling orator and he gets some thing right:
- We are all humans and the differences between black people and white people and Asia people and men and women and gays and straights are superficial;
- We should treat one another with care and respect;
- Objective reality matters; and
- People must learn to hate others, they must be taught to hate ~ it, hatred, is not ‘natural.’
There are some important ideas there … for all of us, no matter where we stand on the political or social or economic spectra.
