Three thoughts for 2016 … from far away in time and space

Going off on e.g. a peacekeeping mission just because one wants to be different, to chart a new course, to effect some undefined change is “Tactics without Strategy.”

Having a sound plan, a reasoned “Strategy” based on one’s vital interests, is how one wins before deploying troops.

Sun Tzu Quote

Before deploying ships, soldiers or aircraft on any mission one needs to do the small, easy things: make sure one has enough of the right people and make sure the people have enough of the right tools and make sure, above all, that one has a “Strategy” before sending the sailors and soldiers off to do “Tactics.”
