A reminder about war … for the Defence Review

My good friend The Regimental Rogue, has given us a good reminder about war:

Now, I well remember the 1960s, and the kids in the “counter-culture” were wrong …

… the reason soldiers fight is, in words of the Navy’s prayer, “that we may return in safety to enjoy the blessings of the land, with the fruits of our labours.” Fighting for peace is not an oxymoron … we, not the hippies, were right …

… weakening the military doesn’t solve anything. It just makes it more expensive and dangerous to use it when it is really needed, which is, usually, when one leasts expects to need it.
