“Mad Dog” for President?

1392116349-223.jpg-pwrt3.jpg-pwrt3hillary-clinton-just-took-another-swipe-at-bernie-sandersA few weeks ago I commented on the American nightmare, and it’s not just a nightmare for Canada, but for the whole world, including, especially, for the USA, if either Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump becomes president. I don’t know which is less qualified or more dangerous. Neither, in my opinion, has any business being a candidate in any political race, not national, not state and not even local. I believe that Mrs Clinton bought her seat in the US Senate and then bought her way into a near chance at being president in 2008. Mr Trump is riding a wave of American fear and anger towards a high office for which he is extraordinarily ill-suited.

But, according to an article in The Daily Beast, there may be a credible third party candidate …

… General (retired) James “Mad Dog” Mattis, formerly of the United States Marine Corps, is, the article says, being backed by some people with big, Big, BIG money and, thus far at least, he has not made any Shermansque pronouncements such as “I will not accept if nominated and will not serve if elected.” In fact, he, General Mattis, has been out on the talk show and public speaking circuit saying some things that many Americans want to hear …

… he is, at once a proven American patriot, profound and thoughtful, and blessed with “folksy” charm and charisma. He is, in short, a “good” candidate for the TV/Internet age. My guess (just a forlorn hope?) is that he could defeat both Mr Trump, to secure the GOP nomination and then Mrs Clinton in the presidential election or, even, defeat both in a three-way presidential race.

So:  Mad Dog for Top Dog!
